Speech

He spoke
       and what had never been
       was.
He spoke
       and the shapeless
       flowered into form.
He spoke
       and the senseless
       became sensible.
He spoke
       and His word became Law.
He spoke
       and His word became Flesh.
He spoke
       (in pain)
       of grace
       and it was finished.
I speak
       and,
       inexplicably,
       beyond all hope,
       He listens.
