The Thing That Matters

 I could delve into Creation and the mysteries it holds;
I could gaze upon a sunset as its majesty unfolds.
But a time will come when everything I gaze upon is past.
Only one thing then will matter; only one thing then will last:

Did I seek to see the world through my Holy Father's eyes?
Did I strive to know my God and let His word rule in my life?
Will He say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant.  Enter in"?[1]
Jesus died that I might live by faith in Him.[2]

I could work to eat to stay alive to work and eat again;
Or I could make my fame and fortune, leaving footprints in time's sand.
But am I known with joy in Heaven, and am I known in Hell with hate?
For it's so much more important that I walk with God in faith.[3]

Do I seek to see the world through my Holy Father's eyes?
Do I strive to know my God and let His word rule in my life?
Will He say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant.  Enter in"?
Jesus died that I might live by faith in Him.

Martha hurried here and there, so busy serving the Lord;
And she thought her sister Mary would not share in the reward.
But Jesus said, "Martha, you worry with things I have not required.
Mary's found the thing that matters, for My word she has desired."[4]

Friends, do you seek to see the world through your Holy Father's eyes?
Do you strive to know your God and let His word rule in your lives?
Will He say, "Well done, ye good and faithful servants.  Enter in"?
Jesus died that we might live by faith in Him.

It's the only thing that matters in the end.
